Global Climate and the garden - wtf is going on? This year's April felt like spring had leapfrogged may, straight into June. In other words it was very warm, mid-70's, seemingly right after the hard freezes stopped. That means my cool weather-loving crops like peas never had a chance for the cool weather (below 70) weather that they love. Peas might be a loss this year. What I've learned is that we'll need to rely more on highly adaptable plants as the global climate crisis deepens. For instance, spinach has been a little stunted by the warmer than expected weather, but the arugula is doing just fine. Furthermore, arugula appears to be too spicy for my archl-nemesis the woodchuck to bother with it. Hooray!
